Cooperation contract (CWLC) with the Columbia University, New York, (working groups Prof. N. Christ and Prof. K. Schilling) for a corporate work on the Columbia TERAComputer. In April 1997 Wuppertal received a beta-board (64 nodes, 3GFlops peak-performance) of this machine.

Submission of an offer by DESY for an extension of the cooperation with the Bergische Universität in the field of Supercomputing for another three years (1997-2000).

The Bergische Universität Wuppertal, DESY, the company QSW Ltd. and the University of Bielefeld make an agreement ACOMO (Association for Computing and Modelling), concerning the provision of a b-Testboard of the TERAcomputer APEmille by QSW Ltd. in summer 1997.
